Coming Up Next:
Quartets from Route 66 Sound and from choruses around Albuquerque join forces to advertise and book Singing Valentines for February 14th. With as many as twenty quartets, both men and women, will perform two songs for a loved one anywhere in the Albuquerque metro area. Gifts of a rose, candy and personalized card are also presented. Here is the flyer for this event.
This is a joint fundraiser benefiting the NM Youth Harmony Camp and the education programs and general funds of each chorus.
Events held throughout the year:
Friends & Family Night
On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, we will perform our contest set for our friends and family. This is a free concert to see what we plan to present at the Regional Competition in Phoenix on April 19 -22.
As Sweet Adelines, each year we attend Regional Competition where both choruses and quartets compete. Working year round toward this very important event, it allows us to be judged along with other choruses in our region. Our region, southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii and southwest Texas, is one of the largest in the organization. We are privileged to have choruses in our region who have won the International Chorus Competition many times as well as Champion Quartets.
Albuquerque Folk Festival Women’s Barbershop Workshop
In early June, the chorus presents a workshop on Women’s Barbershop. Teaching tags and presenting a short performance for interested women, and a few guys, is always a fun event. This event has brought many new members to our risers! Come join us at this year’s Albuquerque Folk Festival!
New Mexico Youth Harmony Camp/ABCC
Members of Route 66 Sound as part of ABCC, sponsor and organize this annual event in it’s 18th year. High school students attend this three day camp at New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM. A final performance is held Saturday afternoon at Rodey Theater at UNM for family and friends. Many campers have gone on to have careers in music education and performance.
We present an Annual Show in the Fall as our main fundraiser. With fun musical themes, guest performers and chorus quartets, our plan is to entertain our audience with the best performance of the year!
Each year we present a free Holiday Performance with fun and traditional Christmas music. We also collect food donations for the Roadrunner Food Bank. We have collected over 500 pounds of food in the past three years!
During the month of December, we sell Carol-Grams. The chorus sings selected holiday tunes over the phone to these special recipients.
